Don't let hay fever ruin the big day: Image 1

The only tears you should have on your wedding day is those of joy - not hay fever salted sniffles! With wedding season approaching it's the worst time to suffer from hay fever so we have some top tips for all you summer brides-to-be from Benadryl...

Benadryl has partnered with make-up artist Anchal Seda to provide top tips on how to deal with hay fever and still look your best.

Hay fever and allergies are hard to avoid, but following a simple, five-step morning routine means you can get on top of the symptoms and enjoy the sunny days ahead.

Be hay fever-ready:

Step 1: Start in the Shower
Aside from runny noses and sneezing, hay fever also affects the skin, causing it to become itchy and irritable. To avoid, take your morning shower with AVEENO Dermexa Daily Emollient Body Wash 300ml (£9.99). This can be found at your local Boots and gently cleanses without drying and soothes the skin.

Step 2: Cream up
Dry off and apply AVEENO Dermexa Daily Emollient Cream 200ml (£9.99, Boots). This is clinically proven to moisturise and soothe, whilst helping reduce flare ups of very dry skin. In a clinical study, 90% of users experienced relief from itchy skin sensations*

Step 3: Put up your shield
Vitamin C generates natural antihistamine activity in the body and there is evidence it can help to relieve hay fever symptoms, as well as protect against pollution. So before you get your day face on, moisturise with Neutrogena Hydro Boost City Shield (£12.99, Boots). Formulated with Neutrogena's unique Hyaluronic, the gel matrix replenishes skin with a boost of intense hydration and strengthens natural defences against pollution and other aggressors.

Step 4: Show me your ALLERGY FACE

And for the finishing touch BENADRYL have partnered with Make-up artist Anchal Seda and influencer Alice Thorpe to create top tips and tricks to tackle your ALLERGY FACE when your eyes are itchy, and your nose is running:

Use skincare products that include gentle ingredients, that do not cause irritation to the most sensitive areas of the skin. Also look for hydrating products as well to help any dry skin caused by irritation around the nose area.

Superdrug Balsam Facial Tissues are enriched with a protective balm containing Aloe Vera, which is nice and soft when you have a sore, runny nose

Contouring will instantly help with a puffy face. Use a bronzer to the hollows of the cheek and then highlight the cheekbones

A waterproof mascara such as B.HD Lengthening Mascara is a must, especially when suffering with watery/itchy eyes Use a matte lipstick as it's more long-lasting and is ideal when suffering from hay fever makeup slippage.

A smudgy/smoked out pencil liner is an easy way to disguise swollen itchy eyes and is super quick and easy to do Set your makeup with powder to ensure it lasts all day.

Step 5: Medicate Don't forget to pop BENADRYL Allergy Relief (12 capsules RRP £4.99, 24 capsules RRP £8.19, 48 capsules RRP £16.99) in your handbag. This is the fastest-acting allergy relief capsule. It's the only brand to contain acrivastine, a unique active ingredient that gets to work in just 15 minutes, offering a convenient, reactive treatment option for unexpected allergy attacks when you're on the go.
