April/May 2020

Firstly, I hope all of our readers have been keeping well during this surreal, unprecedented time. It would be hard for me to not mention the dreaded c-word, however, I admire how everyone, no matter how badly they have been effected, has come together to help and support one another. The tide will start turning, and we can all begin to re-plan cancelled weddings, re-book honeymoons and get back to our wonderful world of weddings – supporting local couples and businesses finding their feet again!

This issue is bursting with inspiration; we have three real weddings starting on page 37, a guide on how to choose your big-day entertainment on page 65 and we get to know local photographers on page 57.

I hope you enjoy the issue and don’t forget you can submit your wedding at any time by visiting – www.yoursurrey.wedding/get-involved-real-wedding

De Vere Horsley Estate

Situated in more than 70 acres of picturesque parkland is the De Vere Horsley Estate. This Victorian mansion dates back to 1820 and boasts 28 newly refurbished en suite bedrooms, a croquet lawn, a lake and quirky towers.

Nearlyweds can tie the knot in the Great Hall, a traditional English banqueting hall, with room for 120 friends and family for the ceremony, 110 for the wedding breakfast and 200 for the reception.

The Sopwith can also be used, which has an elegant design, large bay windows, a terrace and a croquet lawn, with space for 120 loved ones for the meal and 200 for the evening celebration.

Alternatively, 1820 is available. Full of natural light, this grand area has an 18th-century fireplace and can accommodate 50 guests for the service and 120 for the party.

Couples can stay in the bridal suite on the night of the wedding and will have use of a certified toastmaster, a ceremonial knife and sterling cake stand, a red-carpet arrival, menu tasting, complimentary bed and breakfast and a stay at Horsley Towers for their first anniversary.
