April/May 2020

Firstly, I hope all of our readers have been keeping well during this surreal, unprecedented time. It would be hard for me to not mention the dreaded c-word, however, I admire how everyone, no matter how badly they have been effected, has come together to help and support one another. The tide will start turning, and we can all begin to re-plan cancelled weddings, re-book honeymoons and get back to our wonderful world of weddings – supporting local couples and businesses finding their feet again!

This issue is bursting with inspiration; we have three real weddings starting on page 37, a guide on how to choose your big-day entertainment on page 65 and we get to know local photographers on page 57.

I hope you enjoy the issue and don’t forget you can submit your wedding at any time by visiting – www.yoursurrey.wedding/get-involved-real-wedding

Nutfield Priory Hotel & Spa

Set within 12 acres of private grounds, high on Nutfield ridge, the hotel’s tree-lined drive up to the house provides a beautiful entrance for guests. This Victorian mansion house dates back to 1872 and was inspired by the Neo-Gothic splendour of the Palace of Westminster. With towering turrets, and mullioned windows with intricate stone tracery, Nutfield Priory Hotel & Spa is a striking and beautifully romantic venue. The terrace offers magnificent views over the Surrey and Sussex countryside providing a stunning backdrop for photographs and al fresco reception drinks.

Inside, is an array of beautiful original features such as woodpanelled walls, fine stone carvings and ornate marble fireplaces.

Couples can host their ceremony in The Worth, The Gibson or The Fielden Suite. The first was the original morning room of the house with floor-to-ceiling Gothic windows and an original fireplace this romantic suite is the traditional homely dining room of the hotel, perfect for smaller ceremonies of up to 15 guests.

The Gibson, with wood panelling and an ornately carved ceiling is handsomely decorated and still houses the original marble fireplace. This space can accommodate 80 people for a ceremony. Finally, the largest banqueting room, The Fielden Suite, has its own terrace, private bar and cloakrooms, and can accommodate up to 100 loved ones.

After the ‘I dos’ receptions take place in all of the former mentioned suites: The Worth (12), The Gibson (60) and The Fielden Suite seats up to 100 guests for the wedding breakfast and up to 140 for an evening reception. Alternatively, the Leigh Room can hold 28 loved ones.

Couples tying the knot here can enjoy overnight accommodation on the night of the wedding, discounted rates for guests, one month’s free health club membership for the couple prior to the wedding day and a menu tasting with wines for two.
