October/November 2020

Welcome to our October/November issue! I feel a bit crazy saying that, how can it be November already, it feels like yesterday that it was January? I think we can all agree it’s been a crazy year, but it’s been so lovely seeing the Surrey wedding industry come together and help couples power through these tough times.

Whether you’ve recently got engaged – congratulations! – or are re-planning your special day, think of us as your new BFF when it comes to wedding planning. We’re here to support you through every aspect of your day and have put together an issue bursting with inspiration. Our fashion section is full of the latest trends for the whole bridal party, we’ve asked local photographers to send in their favourite images and put together a Q&A feature to help you create the perfect day.

If you’re still looking for a venue, don’t despair, we’ve rounded up some of the best properties in Kingston and Richmond and taken a step back in time to highlight some historic wonders.

We’re always looking for real weddings and styled shoots to feature in the magazine so make sure you submit yours at www.yoursurrey.wedding/get-involved-real-wedding

Enjoy the issue!

Richmond Hill Hotel

Richmond Hill Hotel is made up of Georgian townhouses built in 1724 and resided in by local dignitaries. Located on the top of Richmond Hill, the hotel boasts beautiful views over the terrace and meadows. Richmond Park’s Natural Reserve is close by with free-roaming deer and beautifully plantation. This area was known as the hunting ground to King Henry VIII and his predecessors, making it a great photo opportunity.

There are three spaces available for ceremonies. The Ballroom is the largest and has a Georgian style throughout with large sash windows letting in plenty of natural light, high ceilings, stunning design features and room for 180 guests.

Located in the heart of the hotel, with a raised private bar area and sun terrace, is the Richmond Room, which can accommodate 110 friends and family.

Suitable for smaller celebrations, the Queens Room (40) is an elegantly designed space with lots of character and easy access.

Macdonald Frimley Hall Hotel & Spa has launched a series of flexible wedding packages to help couples affected by lockdown

Macdonald Frimley Hall Hotel & Spa has seen a 25 per cent spike in enquiries after launching a series of flexible wedding packages created specially to help couples tie the knot following lockdown. Following its re-opening last month, the four-star venue had responded to the demand, and has re-shaped its offering to accommodate a range of wedding requests, creating a magical experience in a romantic and safe environment. In line with government guidelines, intimate ceremonies can now be held in front of a small group of family and friends, and the venue is offering the potential to hold this small ceremony now with a larger reception at a later date. These 'Sequel weddings' have been particularly popular with the venue, with wedding co-ordinators working closely with couples to plan not one, but two special days.
