Jake proposed to Claire after two years together while they were in New York. “It was New Year's Eve and Jake had planned to pop the question while we were having a helicopter ride around the city; however, I fell ill so in the end he asked me to marry him while I was in bed,” recalls Claire. “Which was actually perfect as it was so us.”
The happy couple set the big date for 9th July, 2016, with Farnham Castle providing the backdrop. Their ivory colour scheme encapsulated the romance-luxe look they were hoping for.
Here, Claire tells us more about their day...
My dress was by Essence of Australia but I customised it by adding a Bardot-style lace top, and long lace sleeves as I wanted a classic look.
Jake and the groomsmen all wore navy suits, waistcoats and cumberbunds with white shirts and bow ties – I wanted a dinner suit look for the men.
On the day we were both a little nervous but both so excited. Stand out parts include walking down the aisle, the speeches and my father-in-law jumping on the band's drum kit.
Our friends are all the life and soul of the party so we just kept the drinks flowing and knew they'd have a good time. We hired a photo booth, band and DJ for some added entertainment.
