There are so many different things to consider when choosing your Surrey wedding photographer. No two photographers will have the same approach and all will offer their own unique service and style. Some will adopt a photojournalistic or reportage documentary approach for most of your day, so you can look back and remember just how incredible your day actually was in addition to the more traditional couples, bridesmaids and family group shots.
A good wedding photographer will be unobtrusive and will capture the day in a relaxed and informal way from the 'getting ready' stage right through to the first dance and well into the evening.
You want to remember your wedding day forever so it's worth choosing a photographer you are comfortable with and will record your day in the best possible way.
Here’s some great wedding photographers in Surrey from places like Woking, Epsom, Guildford, Croydon, Camberley and Haslemere, whom you might want to get in touch with...

Behind the lens: five minutes with irockvisuals
When did your passion for photography begin? How long have you been a wedding photographer? Growing up in my home town, Artvin, Turkey, I was always in awe of the natural beauty of the mountains, trees and wildlife. Moving to Bursa, a much larger city, and always being a creative, I learnt to breakdance and I found this such a passionate outlet for me, also keeping me well disciplined. Meeting my wife, whilst she was on holiday in 2002 and then moving to England with her in 2005 allowed me to experience new cultures and see some amazing places. It was then that I started to take photo's. I enjoyed the editing, making a picture really come to life.

Ryan Cox Photography has just moved to Surrey
Ryan Cox Photography has just moved to Surrey. We spoke to Ryan to find out more: "I have been capturing weddings for more than 20 years and had an established wedding and portrait business in the South East of Kent until March 2021 when I moved to Cranleigh, Surrey, following my partner starting a new job.
"I still travel back to Kent for weddings as I'm continually recommended via word of mouth, but I travel throughout the UK and globally for my work, so being more central than I was before is a big positive for me.
"My work is a documentary style but I'm always looking to create a fashion, contemporary style when the opportunity arises. I work closely with my couples to create timeless images and stay away from fad editing, which will outdate very quickly. I always provide my couples with a full set of colour and black and white images, so they have a choice to suit their preferences.

How to look natural in your wedding photographs
Having your photo taken can be uncomfortable at the best of times, let alone when you want your pictures to be perfect. Building a relationship with your photographer is one of the best ways to overcome those nerves. Tell them what you like and don't like and, most importantly, the kind of pictures you want them to achieve. If you have a pose or idea in mind, then discuss this with them. This all leads to more achievable results. Natural style photography is best captured when you're being exactly that! Forget your photographer is there. They should encourage you to carry on as you are, walk and talk with your partner and let them capture that moment.

Meet Dorrington Photography at a wedding fair this autumn
Dorrington Photography is a talented supplier based in Uckfield. "We moved from Crawley to Uckfield during lockdown but still cover the South-East," says Andy from Dorrington Photography. "Throughout lockdown, we worked closely with our couples to reduce the stress of rescheduling their wedding dates wherever possible. We set up a tight-knit consortium of well-regarded photographers in the area that would be able to step in to support in the event of illness/isolation to ensure none of our couples were let down on their day. We enjoyed the intimacy of the smaller weddings which chose to go ahead, relishing the time with the couples and their families and feeling privileged to be involved at such an emotional time. We are looking forward to the busy years ahead where we hope there will be a bit more normality for everyone celebrating their wedding day!"

The benefits of a pre-wedding shoot
There are many advantages to having an engagement shoot. Photographers usually offer this as an optional extra, and it's a great way to get to know them and learn more about their style. You'll learn what to expect during the day. This will enable you and your partner to be yourselves whilst candid pictures are being created. Use the opportunity to ask any questions, and be sure to let your photographer know what you like and don't like. This will all contribute to a smooth and happy working relationship.
