Gabrielle and Rizz married on the 26th May 2018 at Northbrook Park, Surrey. Here, Gabrielle tell us more about their black and ivory-themed day...
Aside from being stunning, Northbrook Park had the wow factor for us, and knew it would be the same for our guests. Once we'd completed the walk through of the different rooms (vine room, gardens and orangery) we knew it was the one for us – there was an abundance of light in each area.
The flowers were consistent, all white/ivory in naturallooking forms – the bouquets were wrapped in black satin! Rizz and I both had orchids while the bridesmaids and best men had gypsophila – classic with a modern twist.
We chose an alternative cheese cake, the catering company did an amazing job with dressing it, and it went down well with the guests!
Due to our large families, we simply organised our tables into people who get on really well so they could enjoy the day. We also chose to sit on our own on a sweetheart table to try and find time together during the day to reflect on the ceremony and how the day has come together.
At the Farnham Boutique – a beautiful shop with a one-on-one service – I'd tried on a few dresses but my mum picked one out of the window that I hadn't seen and that was the one. I loved that it was classic from the front but the panels and back with the train made it slightly different.
I've been dreaming of my wedding dress since I was a little girl, as I've got older Pinterest albums and images started to get saved. When I got engaged, one of the first things I did was try on dresses, and changed the style I wanted almost immediately!
I had eight bridesmaids, all with very different personalities, so I just specified black floor-length dresses. They chose their own styles, and all looked amazing.
We always knew we wanted Rizz to stand out slightly from the groomsmen, so he wore a white jacket, tux trousers and Magnanni black loafers – it was harder than getting my dress – but it all came together and looked great.
The groomsmen all wore black tuxes and bow ties which linked with the bridesmaids.
We always knew we'd like to have a live band for the atmosphere. We worked with One Band on finalising a set list and they also learnt our first dance song, Mirrors by Justin Timberlake – which is a song that came out when we first got together.
When people say it's the best day of your life – they really are telling the truth. Everyone we love in one room, enjoying our special moment, is something we'll never forget.
The speeches were a favourite moment for us. Starting with my dad's, he used a projector using sound and pictures which was amazing; the three best men showed each of their personalities and each bought a different part and story to the room; and, of course, Rizz's was a magnitude of story telling which he'd been preparing, cutting and changing since we got engaged.
