I’ve never felt more relaxed than when I visited the Kings Arms Hotel. From the moment I stepped through the door, all my problems seem to melt away, and I couldn’t wait to share the experience with my partner.

Upon arrival, we received a warm welcome from the staff who showed us to our room. The hotel is made up of 14 renovated bedrooms, a restaurant, a comfortable lounge, a cocktail bar and a terrace, perfect for warm summer nights. There was an intimate and calming atmosphere throughout the property, which meant my other half and I could relax and enjoy some quality time together.

Our room was stylish and modern with a TV, bathrobe, slippers, tea and coffee making facilities and a fully-stocked mini-bar. To my delight, we had an amazing view of Bushy Park and could watch the deer from our oh-so-comfortable bed.

I was eager to visit the antique shops and see the surrounding area. I couldn’t have asked for a better location with Hampton Court Palace close by and acres of stunning gardens ready to expl

Food glorious food

After a few hours of sightseeing, it was time for dinner. All that shopping meant we had worked up quite an appetite and couldn’t wait to taste the food. The menu didn’t disappoint, from pie to burgers, there was something to suit everyone. The restaurant had a romantic atmosphere, with candles on every table and a beautiful décor throughout. To start, we had the ham fritter, broccoli and sage purée, which I’d never tried before but will certainly be having again. For the main course, I went for my favourite dish, a good old-fashioned beer-battered haddock and hand-cut chips, which was delicious and fresh. The staff were very attentive and went above and beyond to ensure we had the best meal possible. I even had a cocktail, and it was one of the nicest I’ve ever had!

For dessert, I had a baked vanilla and hazelnut cheesecake with confit orange, damsons and plum sorbet, which was a great way to finish.

Pure indulgence

After the meal, we headed off to our room to get ready for bed. The rainfall shower was a luxury as well as the light-up mirror, which I loved! I got into bed, and dozed off into a deep sleep and only awoke when it was time for breakfast.

The following morning, we had to force ourselves out of bed and head down for breakfast. On display was a selection of juices, teas, cereals and tasty pastries as well as cooked options. We choose the full-English, at first I was a little apprehensive as I can be fussy when it comes to how my eggs are cooked, but I’m happy to say they came out perfect!

After such an amazing stay, I was sad to be leaving this little gem. The hotel is a lovely place to spend time with loved ones, and we will definitely be going back soon!
