Q – We’re trying to decide what time of year to get married but can’t make a decision. What flowers are available each season and are there any ways of saving money?
"Not all flowers are available all year round, and although we can import them from other countries, the quality may not be as good, or the price may be higher. Save money by purchasing more expensive options for your bouquet and have cheaper versions for your centrepieces.
"Particular shades may be limited, so I would use diamantés or ribbons to add colour to your flowers.
"There are lots of wonderful flowers available in spring, including lisianthus, roses, alstroemeria, tulips, daffodils, hyacinth and anemone. Eucalyptus isn’t at its best this time of year, but other greenery such as hard ruscus are available.
"Peonies, garden roses, sweet Williams, hydrangeas, delphiniums, gladiolus and dahlias are in bloom in summer.
"As we enter autumn, hypericums, rose hip berries, squashes, brassicas, asters, cosmos and sunflowers become popular. While roses, lisianthus, gerberas, carnations, orchids, hypericum berries and chrysanthemums are better suited for winter."
