How to create a memorable first dance

First dance

Q – My wife-to-be is wonderful at dancing, but I have two left feet! She wants us to do an upbeat performance to surprise our guests, but I’m petrified of messing it up. Do you have any ideas to help me feel more confident?

"Don’t worry, even if your wife-to-be is great at dancing, chances are she hasn’t done much ballroom. This is a very different type of dancing and is a new challenge for a lot of people. If you book lessons with a professional, they will show you clever ways of leading and turning her, and I promise they will very quickly make you look like you know what you’re doing.

"I recommend that you book at least three lessons and give yourself eight weeks or so before the wedding so you can put some practice in. The more you rehearse, the more natural you will look. The main thing is that you enjoy yourself and celebrate being husband and wife."
