Gone are the days of a horse-drawn carriage or a Rolls Royce pulling up to the wedding chapel, now it’s all about modern cars! Couples across the UK are planning their dream weddings, with a twist. Searches for 'modern wedding cars' have surged by 60% in the last month according to Google Trends, signalling a shift from traditional vintage choices to sleek, contemporary vehicles that add a touch of modern elegance to the special day.

ATS Euromaster, the tyre, MOT and vehicle services provider, has analysed TikTok hashtags and trends to reveal the changing popularity of wedding cars, both vintage and modern. Additionally, ATS has estimated rental costs for three-hour periods to help couples choose the perfect car for their special day.

  1. Audi R8 – 189.8k posts and costs £1,608 to hire.

The Audi R8 stands out as one of the most popular and costly choices on TikTok, reflecting the growing trend of couples choosing modern, luxury cars over traditional, vintage options. Renowned as one of the best supercars available, the R8 offers the perfect blend of style, performance and opulence.

Its striking design not only provides photogenic appeal but also adds a touch of contemporary elegance to any wedding. Whether you’re shooting photos with happy couples posing next to the car or driving into the sunset, the Audi R8 is set to be a stunning addition to the wedding album.

  1. Land Rover Defender – 67.9k posts and costs £1,370 to hire.

Ranking second on TikTok, the Land Rover Defender is capturing the hearts of adventurous couples looking to make a statement. Whilst it may not be the most conventional choice for a wedding car and is one of the more costly hires available, it offers a distinct alternative to traditional options with its boxy silhouette and signature grille.

Standing out alongside top choices like the Audi R8, the Defender adds a memorable touch to your special day.

  1. Rolls Royce Phantom - 13.7k posts and costs £425 to hire.

The Rolls Royce Phantom continues to wow couples worldwide with its timeless design, ranking as one of the most sought-after wedding cars on TikTok and the first classic car to appear on our list.

Renowned for its regal presence, the Phantom not only makes a grand entrance but also offers a spacious and comfortable interior, ideal for accommodating large gowns. Priced at £425 for a three-hour rental, it presents an attractive option for those seeking grandeur without straining their budget.

  1. Merecedes E Class - 12.4k posts and costs £325 to hire.

The E Class Mercedes wedding car stands out as a modern and affordable option for couples aiming for sophistication on their special day. This model offers a perfect balance of luxury and affordability, showcasing modern exteriors and inviting interiors that embody contemporary elegance.

  1. Volkswagen Beetle – 10.8k posts and costs £1,055 to hire.

Despite not being a conventional modern choice, the Volkswagen Beetle stands out as appealing to couples who follow tradition, securing the fifth spot for the most searched-for wedding cars on TikTok.

While, on average, it triples the cost of hiring a Mercedes, the Beetle effortlessly evokes feelings of romance with its unique aesthetic appeal. With its rich history, the retro style makes it a beloved choice for couples who still appreciate a vintage flair and want to infuse it into their wedding day. Despite modern trends, the Beetle maintains its popularity with those who desire a timeless touch.

  1. Aston Martin DB5 – 3,667 posts and costs £1,200 to hire.

For couples wanting a wedding day as legendary as the vehicle itself, look no further than the Classic Aston Martin DB5. Recognized as the most iconic Bond Car of all time, it adds an enduring elegance to any wedding.

Beyond its iconic status on the silver screen, the Aston Martin DB5 exudes a touch of glamour and performance, perfect for couples seeking to make a powerful entrance on their special day. However, it's worth noting that this legendary experience comes at a costlier price point.

  1. Jaguar XJ – 2,495 posts and costs £295 to hire.

The Jaguar XJ, with its prestigious reputation, never fails to captivate attention. Known as the pinnacle of luxury motoring, the Jaguar boasts spacious interiors, smooth handling and a striking white exterior that exudes opulence.

Despite its esteemed status, Jaguar discontinued the XJ model in 2019, though it is still available for hire. While it may no longer be in production, the legacy of the Jaguar XJ lives on, and it remains a cherished choice for many couples who are looking for a rare and special find for their wedding day.

  1. Mustang Eleanor - 701 posts and costs £1005 to hire.

Ranked 8th among the top choices for wedding cars, the Mustang Eleanor has long garnered attention for its captivating aesthetics. Inspired by the legendary Shelby GT500 featured in the film "Gone in 60 Seconds," the Eleanor embodies a perfect fusion of retro styling, modern performance and exhilarating driving experiences.

Simon Waye, Technical Support Engineer at ATS Euromaster commented on the trending vehicles: “As we look ahead to wedding season, we’re seeing some captivating shifts when it comes to choosing a vehicle. In 2024, the focus is less on tradition, with a whopping 1.3 million posts under the hashtag #modernwedding on Instagram. It’s perhaps not surprising that modern wedding cars are becoming more popular, with couples looking for an unconventional ride that will turn heads on their big day.

“From an Audi R8 to a Land Rover, luxury and opulence are both continuing wedding themes. However, we are still seeing a strong interest in classic vintage cars such as the Rolls Royce Phantom.”

Why wedding guests are dressing with more personality

Why wedding guests are dressing with more personality

Wedding style is becoming less about rigid rules and more about individuality. While couples have long used their wedding day to express who they are, guests, parents and members of the wedding party are increasingly doing the same through colour, pattern and carefully chosen accessories. For Surrey-based accessories brand Dapper & Suave, the most memorable wedding outfits are not necessarily the most traditional. They are the ones that allow the wearer to feel polished, confident and recognisably themselves. The brand's latest campaign brings together three distinctive looks, each styled differently but connected through expressive accessories. A cravat adds softness and pattern to a textured jacket, a cravat and pocket square bring individuality to a contemporary three-piece suit, while a bow tie and feather lapel pin introduce colour and character to a classic blazer.

The British Wedding Tradition Most Guests Never Question

Most wedding guests have heard the phrase "wedding breakfast", but very few stop to question it. After all, the meal is rarely served in the morning. So why do we still call it a breakfast? According to Nick from Country House Weddings, the answer goes back centuries and is tied to religion, fasting and the way weddings were once celebrated in Britain. Breaking A Very Specific Fast The word "breakfast" does not originally mean a morning meal. It simply means breaking a fast.
