Obviously you want to look your best and feel wonderful on your wedding day. To achieve this you need not only to plan, but also to act, ideally at least six months in advance of your big day.

Beauty treatments and fitness should commence as soon as you can. The range of treatments are huge including waxing, facial, teeth whitening and manicure, to name but a few. Timing is especially important when it comes to hair and makeup, and to ensure you look your best on your wedding day, consider a trial well in advance.

There are a whole range of experts to help you including fitness training and hair and beauty specialists. It is unlikely you will be able to cover everything yourself so consult a professional. Whatever you do, don't leave everything until the last minute.

Here’s some great ideas from hair, beauty and fitness businesses based in Surrey from places like Woking, Epsom, Guildford, Croydon, Camberley and Haslemere, whom you might want to get in touch with...

Don't forget to mention Your Surrey Wedding magazine when contacting a hair, beauty or fitness professional.

How to look after your skin this winter

Skin gets dry in the winter because it's more likely to lose moisture in the cold air. The environment zaps moisture from the skin, leaving it flaky, sensitive and it can be tight and itchy as well. The elements interfere with the skin's tolerance and upset its hydrophilic film. Reinforce its natural deferences by visiting a skincare clinic for facials to replenish moisture, vitamins and antioxidants. A good home remedy would be a nourishing sheet mask once a week in between any facials.... read more

How to look after your hair and skin in the run-up to your wedding

Around six months before the wedding, begin cleansing your skin thoroughly every morning and night. Fortnightly face masks are also a good way to deeply cleanse your skin. Get your hair trimmed ready for the big day, but be cautious with highlights and colouring and don't do anything drastic until you talk to your stylist. If you're doing your own hair and make-up, make sure your hair colour is exactly right a week before the wedding."... read more

Autumn has some beautiful, vibrant colour palettes. Look for warm, bronzed contours, deep red lips complete with a dewy base. How to create a textured up do

Q – I've seen some gorgeous pictures of messy buns and textured up dos, but my hair is so thin and straight. Can I still get this look? "It really depends on the length of your hair, if it's longer than your shoulder, then any textured up do can be achieved. Add a clip-in extension to add volume if needed. Most hairdressers will use this and even be able to offer this for your trial, so you can see and feel the end result. Your stylist will also curl or set your hair to give it a voluminous illusion."... read more

What to expect from your hair trial

Your hair trial is your opportunity to try a few different styles that you have in mind. It's best to wait until near the wedding, and you have your dress before booking. The trial can take place anywhere between five months and five days before your special day. I always recommend having a picture of your dress handy, so the stylist can see the neckline. Also, bring along any accessories that you're planning on wearing, like a veil, tiara or headband. Generally, a trial will be done on clean, dry hair and several styles will be tried. It's also a good time to discuss the final details of the day, confirming timings and payments.... read more
