How to incorporate the season into your wedding accessories

Red is a beautiful colour and provided a seasonal shade is selected, it can make your theme look phenomenal. For an autumn wedding, I would choose a colder shade instead of bright versions. Deep red bridesmaids' dresses and flowers are the most obvious choice and look beautiful against green leafy backgrounds as the sun goes down. If you're not wearing a coloured wedding dress, you could opt for a sash around your waist, or have one encrusted with red gemstones or appliqué flowers. If you've chosen a white gown, look for ivory options as these go well with deep shades of red.

How to embellish a plain dress

Long bridal veils can create a dramatic look. If you're wearing soft chiffon, milky satin or a glamorous silk dress without any patterns in the fabric, then choosing a veil should be easy. Look for intricate lace or options that are adorned with crystals, pearls or butterflies. The only time I'd avoid a long veil, is if you're having a winter wedding when the chances of dry weather are very slim.
