Q – What are your top wedding stationery planning tips?
Choosing your wedding invitations is exciting because these provide your guests with a first glimpse of your wedding day. So my top tip is to find a stationer whose style you love and don’t be afraid to ask questions – it’s not every day that you get married, after all.

Establish how many invitations you will need. This ultimately depends on the size of your guest list. Factor in one invitation per household, so if you’re planning an intimate wedding you may only need 20-30 invitations, or up to 70-80+ for larger weddings.

Work out your budget. This depends on the quantity of invitations required, the number of enclosures, the type of printing and any accessories selected.  Let your stationer know your budget and stationery goals up front, so that they can advise you on the most suitable options.

Work out when you’ll need to order your invitations. Your invitations need to be sent out two months before your wedding date to allow for mailing and the collection of rsvps – maybe slightly longer if you are sending some overseas. It’s also important to understand the turnaround time for your stationery to be printed and delivered, especially during the busy summer wedding season. Get in touch with your stationer as soon as you can to get a quote and to discuss your timelines. Book ahead to ensure your stationer’s availability, and avoid delays by adhering to the agreed timelines.
