Rebecca Douglas is offering our readers a 10 per cent discount off of her services

Rebecca Douglas, a celebrant based in Claygate, is offering our readers a 10 per cent discount off of her services. Rebecca tells us more: "My company, RD Ceremonies, is my biggest passion. I love being swept away by the performers on stage into the land of make-believe, so it's no surprise therefore, that I trained as an actress and have performed in several productions up and down the country before becoming a PA and then a primary school teacher. I always wanted to be a celebrant but never had the confidence to try. However, after almost 10 years of teaching and becoming a mum, it felt like it was the right time to put my dream into action. Being with people and getting to know them is a big part of my job. I adore a love story, so I get really invested and enjoy turning your story into something creative for your ceremony. I chose a celebrant for my wedding as we wanted a memorable and personal moment to share with our friends and family, so I understand the importance of the role. I have the best job in the world, so you can rest assured that I will create a meaningful ceremony for you."

Before I Do - the honeymoon must-have, you won't put it down!

Here at County Wedding Magazines HQ we do love a good book to get our teeth into - not literally of course, cake's great for that - and the description for this new novel Before I Do from Sophie Cousens already has us hooked! What would you do if the one that got away turned up the night before your wedding? Audrey is marrying Josh; steady, dependable Josh, the love of her life. They share a flat and a bank account, and it's the only relationship that Audrey's ever had that feels like something she can put her trust in. But romance should be full of fireworks, and as the big day approaches, Audrey's found herself wondering if Josh really is 'the one'. So, when Josh's sister Miranda arrives at their rehearsal dinner with Fred - Audrey's 'What If?' guy, the man she met six years ago and had one amazing day with but never saw again - Audrey can't help but see it as a sign.

The role of a celebrant

It's not uncommon to feel confused when planning a wedding as there are so many choices. The main part of the day should be the ceremony, without it you would just be having a big party. There are several options available when it comes to your service if a religious venue isn't for you. A registrar, for example, will marry you in a licensed venue, but the ceremony is very prescriptive and doesn't allow much opportunity for personalisation, and any content you wish to add is heavily restricted. This can prevent including elements from your culture which may be important to you or your family as any religious content is not allowed. This is where a celebrant comes in. With an independent celebrant you can get married anywhere (obviously permission is needed from the owner), including a forest, a theatre or onboard a plane.

UK couples turning to ‘pet-nups’

With around 60% of UK households owning a pet, it's no surprise that who gets custody of any animals can be a key area of negotiation when relationships break down. Megan Bennie, a solicitor specialising in divorce and family law at Kent law firm Furley Page, said: "For many people a pet is not just an animal, it's a fully-fledged member of the family, so it's no wonder that pets can be a particularly emotive topic for clients when relationships end. Unfortunately, a pet's treatment by the law hasn't kept up with the way they are generally viewed by their owners."

Questions to ask a dog chaperone service before booking

Here are some questions you should ask your potential supplier: Where are you based? What areas do you cover, and how far do you travel? What's included on a typical wedding day? Do you offer a bespoke wedding day package that can be tailored specifically to my requirements? Can my dog wear a special attire/outfits on our wedding day? Do you offer grooming services? Will you assist the photographer/videographer on the day, so our pooch can be part of the photographs? Can you collect our dog on the morning of the wedding and chaperone to an agreed location afterwards?

Lisa and Jamie tied the knot with a nature-inspired wedding at Burrows Lea Country House

Lisa and Jamie first laid eyes on each other at work. "Jamie took over my role when I went on a sabbatical to go travelling," says Lisa. "When I returned, we were working in the same team. We got on well and had the same sense of humour and interests. It did take a while for us to eventually pluck up the courage to admit we liked each other more than friends. Jamie asked me to go to the pub for our first date in the same village we would have our wedding reception eight years later." The couple bought their first home, and shortly after, Jamie proposed. "We had just celebrated our anniversary, and Jamie said he had a belated gift," shares the bride. "The present was a pack of cards that said '10 things I love about you.' As I read through them, I got to the last one, which said: 'will you marry me?' Jamie then got down on one knee with the ring. It was a surprise in the sense that I thought it may have happened on our anniversary, and when that passed, I thought maybe it wasn't happening that year. Jamie referred to the pack of cards in his speech on the wedding day, which was really touching."

Is a pre-nup on your wedding to-do list?

Whilst this wedding season, most nearlyweds-to-be will be considering invites, dresses, venues and flowers, an increasing number will have pre-nuptial agreements on their minds before they walk down the aisle. Market research from leading consumer legal services company, Slater and Gordon, shows that more than half (53%) of unmarried couples would only consider getting married, if a pre-nuptial agreement was put in place. The research is following the news that Britney Spears and her new husband, Sam Asghari, signed an "iron-clad" prenuptial agreement before their wedding, last month. It is understood that one of the conditions of the document is that if the couple were to separate, Sam wouldn't be entitled to any of the tens of millions that Britney earned prior to their marriage.
