Mental Health Awareness Week 15th-21st May

Planning a wedding can certainly be an exciting time, from picking the cake to choosing the entertainment, it's full of fun tasks to check off a to-do list. However, wedding planning can also come with a host of negativities such as worrying about money and feeling anxiety about family politics on the big day. Increasing evidence shows that gardens and green spaces are associated with better physical, social and mental health.

Honeymooning in your married name

If you are dreaming of jetting off to sandy shores with your sparkling new ring, spouse and matching passports...then this guide from NameSwitch will tell you how to make your dreams come true. Please do have a proper think about whether having matching passports straight away is really that important to you because, trust us when we say, it's not an easy thing to pull off! With recent changes to how processes work, effects of the Pandemic, and added complications like not being handed your marriage certificate on your wedding day, or needing the name on your NHS records to be the same as the one on your passport, an already stressful undertaking just got even more nail-biting! Now it's not mission impossible, but you do need 3 key things to be aligned (and nerves of steel) if this is going to work...

Outdated wedding laws need to change

In an article earlier this year there was discussion and praise aimed towards the Government's plans to allow outdoor weddings to be made permanent. The article also highlighted the eagerly awaited Law Commission report into marriage laws, which was due to be published in July. Now it has been published and we have had some time for the dust to settle, Kate Van Rol, Barrister at 4PB has looked into these recommendations, "Are wedding laws at present 'confusing, outdated and restrictive' as the Commission suggest, or would the implementation of their suggestions trivialise weddings and commercialise the ceremony?". Kate continues...

Questions to ask a dog chaperone service before booking

Here are some questions you should ask your potential supplier: Where are you based? What areas do you cover, and how far do you travel? What's included on a typical wedding day? Do you offer a bespoke wedding day package that can be tailored specifically to my requirements? Can my dog wear a special attire/outfits on our wedding day? Do you offer grooming services? Will you assist the photographer/videographer on the day, so our pooch can be part of the photographs? Can you collect our dog on the morning of the wedding and chaperone to an agreed location afterwards?

How to incorporate your beloved dog into your wedding

Dogs are part of the family and play a huge part in our lives, so, understandably, in recent years, it has become increasingly popular for couples to have their dogs at their weddings. However, logistically it's not always as straightforward to organise because everyone who would normally care for the dog would be preoccupied either getting ready for the big day or attending the wedding.

Look for a dog chaperone service. Your dog can play as big or as small a part in your special day as you feel appropriate; whether that be meeting and greeting guests as they arrive, featuring in the pre or post-wedding photographs, walking down the aisle with the bridesmaids and pageboys or even being the ring bearer. There are many ideas, but you should find a trustworthy company so you can rest assured that your dog is taken care of so you and your guests can focus on having a fabulous time!

Mariam and Ahmed had an intimate ceremony at Weybridge Register Office

Mariam and Ahmed met in Doha, Qatar, through mutual friends. "I thought we'd end up being friends when we first met, but Ahmed continued to pursue me in romantic ways," says Mariam. "He would spontaneously take me to the beach where we would have food and talk until the late hours of the night. I was drawn to his strong character, persevering nature and gorgeous beard!" "We knew when we got into a relationship that it was either going to lead to marriage or nothing at all, as I guess that's just how we do it as Muslims, so there wasn't much of a surprise when he proposed," shares the bride. "He said it was time for us to take our relationship to the next level, and I agreed, so that weekend we looked for a diamond to set in a custom made ring and told our parents via video chat."
