We interview multi-award winning Hindhead-based bridal boutique, Your Little Secret
We interview Penny Phillips and Chantelle Duro from Your Little Secret Bridal Boutique.
Q – What designers do you stock? Oh, there are so many, but here are some of them: Romantica, Bianco Evento, Richard Designs, Nieve Couture, Helen Fontaine accessories - Twilight Designs, Richard Designs - we also have pre-loved dresses including Maggie Sottero, Stella York, Essense of Australia, Eternity, Pronovias, Lusan Mandongas, Vera Wang, Enzoani, House of Mooshki, Victoria Kay, Christina Wu, Ronald Joyce, Augusta Jones, Callista, Allure, Amanda Wyatt, Kenneth Winston, Madeleine Isaac James and Pheonix Gowns. The list goes on!
We also recognise that some of our brides want something a little more unconventional too, so whether it’s a black and white dress or bright red, we can help. If you can't find what you are looking for we can also make it for you from just £1,250, or maybe you like one of the dresses we have in stock but want to make it bespoke – we can do that too, with our Design Your Own Dress service with designer Heidi Ferrucci-Gray.
Q – What should brides-to-be expect when visiting your boutique? Our brides can expect a relaxed appointment in our spacious and beautiful boutique as well as completely honest feedback - we will never tell our brides that they look beautiful if they don’t. We also understand that our brides can be self-conscious about their bodies (we are too), and we will always try to advise on the best shape and style for each bride without ever body-shaming. Privacy when changing and having to take off your clothes can often be a worry for our brides, and we completely respect that, so we can help you as much or as little as you want when you are trying on a dress. We also won’t ever pressurise our brides into buying a dress, if the dress is the one it will sell itself, and we want our brides to buy their dress knowing that it's the one and they can't wait to wear it on their big day.
Q – What's your favourite wedding dress, and why? Unfortunately, there is no one dress. Every dress has a bride, which will bring it to life, dresses on a hanger can sometimes look like nothing particularly special, but on the right bride dresses can be transformed and make the bride look stunning.
Q – How long before the wedding should couples book an appointment? It depends on the bride and whether they want to be super organised and buy early or are happy to wait until nearer the time of their wedding. We have around 200 dresses in stock at any time with sizes ranging from 4-26, which can be taken away on the day, or we can order in from our suppliers (size 2- 32), which usually takes around 9-12 weeks, although rush orders are possible - if ordering in from the supplier is the preferred option, we would suggest adding an additional 4 weeks just in case the dress needs altering.
Q – What's your favourite part of the job? We love the whole experience, being able to be part of the process of the bride finding the dress of their dreams is an absolute delight - we truly have the best job in the world!
Q – Do you have any top tips for brides looking for their wedding Be open-minded. Until you try all the different shapes and styles you won't know whether a dress will really suit you. More often than not our brides leave with the complete opposite of the style they thought they would like - and yes that even includes trying on dresses completely outside of your comfort zone - you never know you might be surprised :)
