Suppliers of Ladies' & Girls' Formal Wear

For such a very special day you want to ensure you choose the perfect outfit. There are no rules of course, but there are traditions and things to bear in mind when choosing an outfit.

Most mothers look for a dress that blends with the bride's chosen colours and often uses the bridesmaids' dresses as a palette. It's usual to avoid white, ivory, black or red or anything too bright or overdone. If you're unsure, talk to the bride for her opinion because, let's face it, it's her big day! The main thing is that everyone feels comfortable and beautiful.

Here’s some great boutiques where you can choose from a wide range of ladies' and girls' fashions based in Surrey from places like Woking, Epsom, Guildford, Croydon, Camberley and Haslemere, whom you might want to get in touch with...

Don't forget to mention Your Surrey Wedding magazine when contacting a boutique for your mother of the bride outfit or formal formal wear for ladies and girls.

Should you get married on Mother's Day?

Choosing your wedding date is one of the most important things when it comes to planning your wedding. We are very quickly moving from traditional etiquette into a society where we are far more flexible with these. Award Winning UK Wedding Planner - Illy Goodall from Illy Elizabeth Weddings shares her insight into whether you should get married on Mother's Day.

There are certain days within the year that you should try to avoid getting married, however with the backlog of weddings this year we are using any given date possible. Whilst I don't think there is personally anything wrong with setting the date for Mother's Day, it can be inconvenient for some people who wish to spend this day with family.

How to find a comfortable yet stylish outfit for the mother-of-the-bride/groom

Your mother needs to choose a hue that suits her rather than trying to fit in with a colour scheme. She should try different styles to find what she feels most comfortable in. It's likely to be a long day, so it's worth considering a second pair of shoes to change into later. The S/S 2022 occasion wear collections will be arriving in stores from the end of December, so start looking straight after Christmas. Good luck!

Meet Dee Brain from mother-of-the-bride boutique Serendipity Fashions

Serendipity Fashions began in 1988 with a sell-out fashion show at the Ben Travers Theatre, Charterhouse, with all proceeds going to CRC. The shop opened in Chilworth, and three years later, we bought out the bridal shop next door as we needed the extra space. For many years the Serendipity Charity Fashion Show was a big event, always selling out and raising large amounts for charity, and I was awarded The Mayors Award for services to the community. We specialise in occasion wear for mother-of-the-bride/groom, guests and social events such as Ascot and visits to the Palace but also offer a full range of separates for everyday wear.

Meet Melita Genziani from mother-of-the-bride boutique Melita

Melita is situated in the delightful village of Chobham in Surrey, and we're proud to say we celebrated 40 years of trading last year. Despite the deceiving frontage, the shop is extremely large and is spread across two floors housing one of the largest selection of occasion wear in Surrey and the surrounding counties. We carry collections from all the leading designers and can offer a choice of styles to suit different tastes and sizes from six to 18. We stock the matching hats and hatinators, again in a variety of designs. We also have a fabulous range of shoes and bags only found in select independents by Lisa Kay and Elegante. These are made to our choice of colours and designed to complement the outfits.
