Sassys Sugar Doughnuts provides doughnut towers and walls for weddings and events and has a vintage trailer, which couples can hire, providing hot sugar and cinnamon doughnuts, sauces and sprinkles.
"I used to be a beauty therapist until lockdown hit, and I saw a vintage doughnut trailer for sale," says owner Sarah Johnson. "In January 2021, I bought it home, turned it on and started cooking hot fresh doughnuts. Within a week, we were delivering 500 of these a day through the lockdown. As lockdown came to an end we were moving to a project house, and my husband asked if I wanted a beauty treatment room again or a doughnut kitchen. I choose the doughnut kitchen, and my artisan doughnuts were created. My daughter was about to get married, and she asked me to make her wedding cake.

Cocoa Island, a chocolate shop based in Dorking, has relaunched its wedding services during the pandemic. "We originally started by making bespoke wedding favours for our couples which have been popular since day one of our chocolatier's inception," says the owner Natasha Cocoa. "Then speaking to couples who were needing to postpone their weddings or move them, with budgets becoming tighter as lifestyles were changing, we looked to create something unique, and so our chocolate truffle tower was born. Our seven tiers of handmade chocolate truffles can be topped with a wedding cake, combining the traditional bake with favours for the guests. We're also able to provide personalised truffle boxes, which allows guests to take some away with them as a memory of the day and saves a lot of wasted wedding cake!"
